Sakura Science Exchange Program in Japan 2023

Opportunities circle is here with an exchange program. Sakura Science Exchange Program is inviting youth to apply for one of Japan’s best science and technology exchange programs. Young and inspiring minds are welcome to apply. The exchange program is planned for a short period. International and Japanese organizations have joined hands to organize the international exchange program.

The Sakura program focuses on the development of talent and human resources. Intellectual groups from around the world are eligible. It has promoted collaboration and interaction between Japanese and international educational institutes. Fully funded exchange programs for international students strengthen relationships between Japan and other nations. Thus, accelerating innovation in science and technology.

The application can be from any organization. Individual applications are not accepted. Your applications will be sent to Japanese Science and Technology during a specific period. High school students, technical school students, the university enrolled and graduate students and even postdoctoral fellows under the age of 40 can apply.

Don’t worry; JST will cover most of the expenses related to traveling and accommodation, including airfare for international traveling, transportation, accommodation and meal fee, admission fee for science museums and cultural facilities and costs for essential events. Funding may vary if the host organization is a private enterprise. Hurry up, don’t miss this opportunity and apply for the international exchange program in Japan and share it with your friends too.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    Here are the eligibility criteria for the Sakura Science Exchange Program in Japan:

    • Sakura program accepts applications from all countries and regions.
    • Individual applications are not acceptable.
    • Applicants can be high school students, technical college students, university students, graduates or postdoctoral students.
    • Moreover, faculty members are eligible to apply.
    • Applicant must be working in the field of science and technology at any public institute. They must be under the age of 40 at the time of application.
    • For the applicant, the Sakura Exchange Program must be their first stay in Japan.
    • Furthermore, if the applicant was a member of the organization at the time of application but is no longer a part of it as the program starts, they are ineligible.
    • Sakura Host organizations can be universities, technical colleges, high schools, research institutes, development corporates, independent administrative agencies, private enterprises, local businesses and organizations with corporate status.

    Benefits :

    Sakura Science Exchange Program will provide the following benefits:

    • JST will cover airfare.
    • In city transportation, accommodation with free meals in Japan.
    • Provision of admission fees for science museums and cultural facilities.
    • Moreover, an extra allowance for conducting relevant events.
    • The host organization may only cover airfare if it is a private enterprise.
    • However, there is an upper limit set for each fee.
    • Recognition of international talent.

    Exchange program calendar:

    Third period:

    • Application acceptance begins on May 17, 2022.
    • Deadline: August 31, 2022.
    • For the third round, the result will announce in mid-October.
    • The program commences at the end of November. It will end on March 15, 2023.

    Fourth Period:

    • Applications open from September 1, 2022.
    • Deadline: November 4, 2022.
    • Result announcement in the middle of December.
    • The program plan will be implemented from the end of January 2023.
    • The fourth period ends on March 15, 2023.

    Application Process:

    • Online applications are open.
    • The Japanese host organization will nominate the applicants.
    • Invitation program applicants must have a precaution statement. Without this notification, their applications will be rejected.
    • The precaution statement is required. Chinese applicants do not require this statement.

    Selection criteria:

    • The plan should align with the purpose of the host organization.
    • The organization nominated for the program should have energetic youth with the same objectives as the plan.
    • The content of the exchange should align with the purpose of the plan.
    • Current and relevant experience is preferred.
