Biozentrum PhD Fellowships Program 2024 in Switzerland

The University of Basel is offering the Biozentrum PhD Fellowships Program for international students with a chance to study in Switzerland. The Biozentrum, the Center for Molecular Life Sciences at the University of Basel, welcomes exceptionally talented, driven, and deeply enthusiastic young researchers from around the world. Candidates can submit their applications for the esteemed PhD fellowships available through the Biozentrum Basel International PhD Program. Unlike other programs for doctoral candidates, which conduct general recruitment, the Biozentrum Ph.D. fellowships are given through a rigorous competitive process, with a maximum of 10 successful candidates per year.

International students from around the world are encouraged to consider applying for the prestigious Biozentrum PhD fellowships program. These international fellowships, generously sponsored by the Werner Siemens Foundation and the University of Basel, aim to identify and support highly talented graduate students in the field of Life Sciences. The program offers direct access to the Ph.D. program at the Biozentrum, University of Basel, additional financial support, the opportunity to select a research group through a rotation-based process, and assistance for attending scientific meetings and courses during their PhD.

In addition to the exclusive opportunity to engage in a rotation-based assignment within their preferred research group, those selected for the Biozentrum PhD fellowships program will have access to various other incentives to nurture their scientific excellence and enhance their career prospects as aspiring PhD scholars. Candidates who accept the fellowship in Switzerland will engage in research within a minimum of two distinct laboratories (rotations) at the Biozentrum. Following these rotations and subject to the approval of the respective group leader, candidates can then select their research group for their Ph.D. thesis. Each rotation will last for a minimum of two months. The University of Basel PhD fellowship funding covers a duration of three years and three months.

    Eligibility Criteria for Biozentrum PhD Fellowships Program:

    • Candidates from all around the world are eligible to apply.
    • They must be interested in the field of Life Sciences.

    • All selected candidates will have to undertake research in at least two labs (rotations) at the Biozentrum.
