Applications are open for the Magreb L’Oréal-UNESCO Scholarships for Women in Science 2019. The Magreb Scholarship Program is established within the framework of an association between the L’Oréal Foundation and UNESCO.

The L’Oréal-UNESCO Maghreb Scholarships for Women in Science aims to promote the participation of young women in science. This program determines and rewards talented young researchers in the life sciences (biology, biochemistry, genetics, physiology, biotechnology, ecology, biochemistry) and physical sciences (physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, information sciences, land and universe).

.Founded in 2007, the L’Oréal-UNESCO Maghreb Scholarships aim to distinguish young researchers by the quality of their work and encourage them to pursue a brilliant career in science. The L’Oréal-UNESCO Maghreb Scholarships for Women in Science 2019 will be awarded to 5 young scientists from 4 different countries of the Maghreb: Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia.

Top 3 selection criteria:

Academic excellence
Quality and originality of the research project.
Ability to promote science among young people.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    Eligible for fellowship applicants who are:

    • Application for a doctorate or postdoctoral studies.
    • Not working permanently in 2019.
    • Work in a PhD or have obtained it and willing to carry out an investigation in one of
      Research in life sciences (biology, biochemistry, genetics, physiology, biotechnology, ecology, biochemistry) and physical sciences (physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, information sciences, earth and universe).
    • Maximum 35 years on the closing date of the call for applications (July 31, 2019).

    Application Process:

    Apply online through the given link.
    Applications can only be sent through the online platform (www.fwis.fr) by the applicants themselves.
    An application is considered complete when it consists of all the following documents, in English or French:

    • A detailed summary (Curriculum Vitae) filled directly on the website www.fwis.fr.
    • Copies of the diplomas obtained from the degree.
    • A copy of an official transcript of undergraduate and graduate studies.
    • A summary / detailed description of the research project of maximum 2 pages.
      Other research projects in progress.
    • A suggested project of the use of the grant, including a draft budget.
    • The list of publications and patents.
    • Letters of recommendation from the supervisor (s) and / or the director of the scientific institute or school where the thesis was made.
      Acceptance letter from the host laboratory for postdoctoral studies.
