Virgin Galactic Aerospace Scholarship and Training (BLAST) Program 2022 is accepting applications. The international scholarship program is introduced to assist the upcoming generation of Black leaders who will push the highly innovative and growing aerospace industry and aid in solving the challenges the world will face in the near future.

The scholarship for African students encourages them to pursue higher education in Earth sciences, Computer science, aerospace engineering, mathematics, and all other STEM-based fields. The selected students will get mentoring, scholarship support, paid internships, job opportunities, and leadership training upon graduation. This scholarship aims to facilitate Black scholars from academics to prosperous early-career job opportunities.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    Here are the eligibility criteria for the Virgin Galactic Aerospace Scholarship:

    • Applicants should be citizens or permanent residents of the US.
    • African/Black American undergraduate juniors, sophomores, or seniors studying STEM majors paying heed to aerospace at any accredited university or a 4-year college in the US.
    • They must have an excellent academic record.

    • BLAST program gives $5,000 Scholarship awards.
    • Selected students will get the opportunity to opt for a paid internship at a partner company such as Virgin Orbit, Virgin Galactic, Planet Labs, Virgin Hyperloop, etc., along with other opportunities that are accessible to graduates to be hired for entry-level positions.

    • A recommendation letter
    1. The recommender should not be a family member.
    2. The letter must contain important information regarding the interactions between the applicant and the recommender. Also, the letter should bring the applicant’s skills, work habits, and personality to light.
    3. The recommender must be an academic advisor/counselor, a community leader, educator, or employment supervisor the applicant interacts.
