Women4Biodiversity offers She Shapes Biodiversity Photo Contest 2022. This international photography competition aims to celebrate women’s role and contribution to the environment. This photo contest will occur prior to the United Nations Biodiversity Conference. This international competition aims to grab attention and start the discussion on the need for a gender-responsive global biodiversity framework to target gender equality to ensure women’s rights and gender equality in biodiversity and that they are respected and pursued to live in harmony.
Women have been portrayed as victims or vulnerable, or beneficiaries. For that purpose, Women4Biodiversity want to shed light on the women who have been natural resource managers for their families as well as communities, ensuring the people are fed, healthy and cared for. Indigenous women have traditional knowledge and practices to sustain lives and restore biodiversity. The host organization aims to show women as active agents contributing to different actions for biodiversity. If you are interested in participating for the contest, send in your submission and apply today!
