The RMetS Weather photography Competition 2022 is now accepting applications! The competition is open to amateurs and professional photographers from all around the world. Photographs that portray the effects of climate change and convey what is happening on a human level are particularly appealing to the judges. The host organization (RMetS) seeks images that combine photographic skill with storytelling and weather observation.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    Here are the eligibility criteria for the photography contest:

    • The Royal Meteorological Society, AccuWeather, The Week Junior Science + employees or agents Nature, their families, or Zealous are ineligible to participate.
    • Furthermore, the competition is open to members of the Royal Meteorological Society.
    • The competition is available to professional and amateur photographers worldwide, but English and Welsh law govern it.
    • International competitors must follow local legislation.
    • Only photographers under the age of 18 years on 28 June 2022 are eligible for the Young Weather Photographer of the Year category.
    • Furthermore, entrants under the age of 18 at the time of the competition’s closing date must have the approval of a parent, guardian, or other adults to participate.

    Winners will receive the following awards:

    • International media coverage and the title of ‘Weather Photographer of the Year 2022.’
    • The winner will get £500.
    • £250 for the first runner-up.
    • £100 for the second runner-up.
    • For the title winner, the Canon SELPHY CP1300 printer and media pack.
    • Jo Bradford (signed copy) for the winner of the public vote.
    • One year of free Royal Meteorological Society membership.

    Date schedule:

    • The deadline for entries is Tuesday, 26 April 2022.
    • From 29 June to 22 July, there will be a period of judgment.
    • The announcement for the shortlist of contenders for the main and mobile phone categories will be on Thursday, 25 August 2022.
    • The public voting session runs from 25 August to 21 September 2022.
    • Announcement of winners: 6 October 2022.

    Application Process:

    • Each candidate may submit up to five photographs for the main category and the mobile category of Weather Photographer of the Year.
    • Before entering, candidates must read the entire Terms & Conditions at the link below.
    • The candidate must submit the highest resolution photo they have and fill out the submission form with information about themselves and their photograph.
    • Email and postal applications are not accepted.
    • If the eligibility criteria for each opportunity are met, the same photograph can be entered into several opportunities.
    • The categories candidate chooses as part of your application, such as ‘mist and fog, “snow,’ and ‘rain,’ are only for judging purposes and will not be considered individually.
    • Candidates can only choose one category, so pick the one that best describes the weather in the shot.
