The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT) provides this scholarship with the aim of improving international competitiveness and promoting the active exchange of international students in Japanese universities.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    1. intend to study abroad in Japan from abroad
    2. Not have Japanese nationality and be a national of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
    3. Born on April 2, 1985 or later

     

    Notes:

    • Those who are in active military service or civilians employed by the army at the time of application are not eligible for this scholarship.
    • Recipients must be able to arrive in Japan during the arrival period stipulated by APU
    • Those who apply for this scholarship may not have received a MEXT scholarship in the past unless they have more than 3 years of experience in educational research after final payment of the previous MEXT scholarship.
    • Those who apply for this scholarship cannot apply for another MEXT scholarship
    • The beneficiaries of this scholarship cannot receive a scholarship from another scholarship organization while studying at APU
    • Beneficiaries of this scholarship must have the student as their state of residence (visa status) in Japan

    Application Process:

    1. Submit the APU application before November 19, 2019. No additional documents are required to be considered for this scholarship.
    2. APU reviews the application documents and selects outstanding candidates to recommend to MEXT
    3. Applicants selected to be recommended for this scholarship are notified with the final results of their APU application.
    4. Selected applicants complete and submit additional MEXT application documents (SGU) to APU
    5. The final results of the scholarship are decided by MEXT
