ILO Skills Challenge Innovation Funding

Application are open now for the ILO Skills Challenge Innovation Funding
The ILO calls on individuals and organizations to share innovative ideas and solutions to address the challenge of skills mismatch. The ILO Skills Challenge Call for Innovation will recognize and support the development of solutions that aim to address the different forms and dimensions of mismatched skills.

Here are different type of proposal can be included

  • Improve the effectiveness of vocational education and training programs through innovative delivery and evaluation partnerships;
  • Improve the development and recognition of employee knowledge, skills and attributes through innovative work-based learning initiatives;
  • Empower companies to better utilize the skills of their workers;
  • Improve the collection, analysis, management and use of data and information on skills needs and labor market trends;
  • Improve the training and employment of underrepresented groups, including migrants and refugees, people with disabilities, youth and women;
  • Improve the provision of active labor market programs through the integrated provision of vocational assistance and job search, training and job placement for the unemployed; and
  • Establish new and innovative multi-stakeholder partnerships to address skills mismatch at the regional, sector or local level.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    This application is open to formally constitute individuals or organizations that must have been in existence for at least two years prior to April 13, 2020.

    • Organizations can include cooperatives, educational institutions, government agencies, NGOs, civil society, regional and sectoral organizations, public and private companies, and research institutions.
    • Previous agencies or individuals can present ideas and solutions at any stage of development.
    • The idea may also be at an early stage or a more mature innovation. Also, it may belong to one person or to different groups of people, such as governments, employers and workers’ organizations.
    • In addition to the above, the proposal must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

    The solution answers one or more of the challenge questions listed above

    • The proposed solution responds to a clear need;
    • The proposed solution has the support and commitment of the main stakeholders;
    • Applicants are available and can start the Innovation Lab phase starting in September 2020.

    The winning entry will receive substantial support consisting of the following:

    • Financial Support: The winner will receive a $ 50,000 grant to implement the proposed solution;
    • Six-month Innovation Lab: The winner will receive technical assistance to transform the idea into a prototype ready to be tested, including through boot camps and remote tutoring through a virtual platform;
    • Global visibility: The winner will receive support through awareness of the idea and solution, including an invitation to a global event to present the concept of innovation to potential partners and sponsors, press articles in media channels, videos, among others. ;
    • Extended Network and Partnerships: Winner and shortlisted entries will join the ILO Global Network of Skills Innovators. They will have the opportunity to exchange with other innovators and share their solutions with ILO stakeholders.
    • In addition, the Top 10 Ideas will be invited to join the ILO Skills Innovators Network.
