The prize awardee will get a cash prize, a sculpture and a certificate.
The Nobel Laureate Abdus Salam founded the International Centre for Theoretical Physics Prize in 1982. The international award aims to acknowledge the brilliant and original contributions to physics by young scientists from developing countries. Also, it supports and encourages high-level research in physics and mathematics. ICTP seeks to provide support to scientists to advance in their careers. Also, it aims to provide continuing education and skills that they need for lengthy and productive careers. International Centre for Theoretical Physics has played a significant role in stemming the scientific drain from the developing world. Its past winner includes Ashoke Sen (1989), the Indian theoretical physics was awarded the 2012 Fundamental Physics Prize.
