Applications are open for the Berlin Summer Student Program in Germany 2022. The summer exchange program is an excellent opportunity for international students to spend 8 weeks in Germany. Every year the Helmholtz Zentrum University of Berlin invites young students from all over the world and provides them with a chance to work in the relevant fields, experience cross-culture and explore Berlin.

The international summer program is open for both male and female students. Berlin summer student program is one of the most exciting summer programs for international participants to learn and gain experience abroad. HZB allows undergraduate students to work on their own research projects under the supervision and cooperation of scientists and gain experience by participating in daily research work at experimental laboratories located at the institute campuses in Berlin; students will also get an opportunity for site visits.

International students currently pursuing degrees in one of the following fields: physics, material science, mathematics, chemistry, structural biology or related fields can apply for the Berlin summer student program in Germany. The research program will take place starting from 4 July 2022 to 29 August 2022, and the research working time will be 40 hours a week.

Changes may be done or lead to cancellation due to the COVID pandemic. The application process is entirely online. Students will receive subsistence allowance and trance allowance and a contract of 8 weeks’ internship for international students in Europe.

It is a good opportunity for German and international students to gain research experience and open doors to a future career. Students will gain not only research experience but also exposure to international standard labs and site visits. It is also a good opportunity to explore the culture of Germany in the capital city, Berlin. Most of all this, there is no requirement of IELTS or TOEFL.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    Here are the eligibility criteria for the Berlin summer student program 2022:

    • Students from all countries including Germany can apply for this internship.
    • Students must be enrolled in a degree program but not pursuing Ph.D.
    • Students must be studying physics, chemistry, mathematics, material, science, structural biology or related disciplines.
    • Students must have completed at least 2 years as full-time students in a degree program related to the disciplines mentioned above.
    • They may stay registered with “student” status during their stay in Germany.
    • Students must be proficient in English; knowledge of the German language will be an advantage.
    • Before the application period ends, students must submit a reference letter.

    Benefits :

    Berlin summer student program will provide the following benefits:

    • Internship contract for 7 weeks to participate in an international project.
    • Subsistence allowance will be provided for the entire duration, 1800€ for international participants and 1000€ gross for university students located in Berlin and Potsdam.
    • 500€ travel expenses subsidy to help the students with the cost of travel between berlin and residence.

    • Students from Non-EU and Non-EEA countries are requested to download the certificate of enrolment, filled, sign and stamped by their university as proof that the applicant is a student.
