Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition 2021

China Shanghai International Children Book Fair is organizing the Young Illustrators Competition for 2021. It was first organized in 2015 with theย assistance of the Shanghai Press and Publication Administration. The competition aims to help new artists enter the world of children’s publication. The Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition is very popular, with entries from 77 different countries in 2020.

The Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition is accepting entries from 25th March to 28th of June 2021. Two golden pinwheel grand prizes will be awarded, one for a shining Chinese artist and one for a shining international artist. Other finalists will receive a golden pinwheel special mention and a people’s choice award.   • Cambridge School of Art Professor (also an author) Martin Salisbury from the UK
  • Ocean University of China Professor Zhu Ziqiang from China

    Eligibility Criteria :

    • Candidates must be aged between 16 and 39.
    • Candidates can be of any nationality, gender and background.
    • Candidates are allowed to submit any art (physical, digital, etc.).
    • Candidates must submit five pieces of artwork of the same theme, with a detailed explanation of fewer than 500 words about their artwork and the methods that they used to create it.
    • Candidates cannot resubmit any art submitted for the Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition in the past.
    • Candidates submitting their art published somewhere must ensure that the art was not published before the 1st of January 2021.
