This international award is specifically for young innovators under the age of 26. The WSA Award invites entries from a broad range of participants. This includes entrepreneurs, businesses, student groups, and project teams, making it an inclusive opportunity for various participants.

The WSA Young Innovators Award is open to digital solutions that uphold several key criteria. First and foremost, these solutions must align with and contribute to one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing their commitment to making a positive impact on society and addressing pressing global challenges. In addition to their social relevance, these digital solutions are expected to offer content-rich experiences to a diverse range of users, catering to the needs of individuals, businesses, and organizations alike. Furthermore, they should prominently feature a strong digital component, including various technological forms, such as websites, applications, SMS-based solutions, IoT (Internet of Things), and wearables, among others. These digital solutions must also be market-ready or successfully launched and implemented.

Moreover, after its launch in 2003, within the context of the UN World Summit on the Information Society (UN WSIS), WSA serves as a contributor to the UN Sustainable Development Goals Agenda. Similarly, the World Summit Awards (WSA) operates as a distinctive recognition system that identifies and champions local digital innovations to enhance societal well-being. Through a continuous series of worldwide events and initiatives and by fostering a global community that includes startups, social entrepreneurs, mentors, judges, speakers, experts, government officials, academics, and civil society representatives, WSA serves as a global platform that showcases pioneering instances of how information and communication technologies (ICTs) can contribute positively to society. With two decades of international engagement, WSA has established itself as a symbol of excellence for digital content that makes a meaningful impact on society across more than 182 participating countries.

    Eligibility Criteria for WSA Young Innovators Award 2024:

    • The WSA Young Innovators program is open to young citizens of all UN member states. Thus providing opportunities for startups, social entrepreneurs, NGOs, students, and individuals.
    • Participation in the WSA Young Innovators is for entrepreneurs, companies, student groups, or project teams, with the condition that at least one founding member and the majority of the team must be under the age of 26 (born on or after 1 January 1997).
    • WSA Young Innovators Award welcomes participation from entities in any UN and UNESCO member state.
    • All submissions must represent fully launched products, and the program does not accept drafts, ideas, or unfinished projects.
    • The owner(s) must possess the copyright for all elements, such as images, sounds, and content related to their solution’s production.
    • Furthermore, any software utilized must be appropriately licensed.
    • In cases of incomplete submissions or those that do not adhere to the WSA guidelines, the initiative reserves the right to withdraw them from the selection process without prior notice.
    • The Digital solution must also address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
    • Moreover, the applicant should aim for clarity, making the digital solution easily comprehensible. Overly lengthy sentences and intricate technical jargon should be avoided.
