Women Building Peace Award 2022 is announced by the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP). This is a reputable award ceremony from women peacebuilders who are making efforts to avoid contradictions, disagreements and violence to make their countries and communities different from others.
US Institute of Peace encourages strong women to make efforts for peace in different ways but are not recognized earlier for their efforts. Women Building Award aims to nominate these women who play an essential role in peace-building.
Meaningful and substantial participation of women in peace-building development plays a vital role in the longevity and success of peace agreements. Gender equality is recognized as a significant factor in making strong and peaceful societies. Women’s peace agreements are resulting 35% more than the last 15 years, and the latest average is 6% mediators and 6% petitioners in major peace projects.
All over the world, USIP has long been engaged in supporting the women peace-building affected by the conflict that include civil society leaders and peace negotiators, women-led organizations preventing violent extremism in the Horn of Africa and the Sahel, religious leaders across the Middle East advancing the rights of women and girls. These factors are highlighted in the peace-building efforts; this can reflect both the institutes of peace-building and comprehensive commitments to gender.
