Applications are open for the VIVA Girls Grants
The first open call for grants from VIVA Girls Initiative of MADRE supports the leadership, power, creativity and organization of girls worldwide!

Apply for a 12-month grant (financial support), and / or actively encourage young girls and women leaders to apply for a grant to fund their ideas, initiatives or organizations!

    Eligibility Criteria :

    Eligibility criteria for the program is following :

    • Be a community-based group or individual that:
    • Works with girls and young women (up to 30 years old) who identify themselves as Afro-descendants, disabled, indigenous and / or LGBTIQ, and those from communities that face climate crises, wars, conflicts, disasters and their consequences. *
    • It is based in the geographic regions of VIVA Girls: Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean and the Pacific.
    • It is seeking financial support (a grant) for a community project that works to meet immediate needs and also creates solutions to community challenges.
    • It has an annual operating budget ** below US $ 100,000.
    • Plan to implement, or is currently implementing a job that aims to:
    • Build a just peace: preventing, surviving and recovering from war, to create a lasting peace.
    • Advanced climate justice: defend against the climate crisis and advocate for just economic and environmental policies.
    • End gender violence: face abuse and create protections for women, girls and LGBTIQ people.
      * MADRErecognizes communities at war, disasters and their consequences as communities facing an acute climate crisis, crisis of extreme gender violence, war and authoritarian or pre-authoritarian regimes.

    ** An annual operating budget is the total amount of money you spend to execute your initiative/project / organization.

    Benefits :

    • MADRE supports initiatives through grants (financial support) of $100 to $20,000
    • They provide flexible financial support that can be used for general support and/or projects, to be used over a period of 12 months.
    • At month 9, they will review progress with the grantees (successful applicants) to discuss possible projects and funding renewal.

    MADREis an international women’s human rights organization. They partner with community groups of women around the world who face wars and disasters. Its mission is to promote the human rights of women by satisfying urgent needs in the communities and creating lasting solutions to the crises that women face. Its history is based on progressive movements for peace, justice and the human rights of women.

    Grants (financial support) will be awarded in 2 cycles. These two cycles differ in the schedule for receiving funds but do not differ in eligibility or in any other criteria. Depending on your application and eligibility criteria, you will be informed about the second (and final) phase of the application process.
