UNTBLDC-TWAS Exchange Program

Applications are open for the UNTBLDC-TWAS exchange program for talented scientists who have completed MSc or preferably a PhD degree. The program is open for scientists from least developing countries to visit and work in Cape Town, South Africa and New Delhi in India. The duration of this exchange program is six months.

This program aims to provide equal opportunity to least developing countries to move forward and become acquainted with the scientific process and research and teach them how to transfer the knowledge to the younger generation for innovation. In addition, selected scientists will get an opportunity to get exposure to the international scientific environment and institutions.

United Nations Technology Bank for least developing countries will cover all the travel expenses and cost of participants’ stay. In addition, the international centre will provide the lab and research support funds for genetic engineering and biotechnology.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    Applicants must meet the criteria set by TWAS to apply for UNTBLDC-TWAS Exchange Program:

    • Applicants must be under 45 years of age on 31 December 2021.
    • Applicants must have a PhD or MSc degree.
    • Applicants must be residing in the least developed countries.
    • Women are also encouraged to apply.
    • Applicants must submit the proposals relevant to the projects mentioned above.

    Benefits :

    UNTBLDC-TWAS Exchange Program will cover:

    • Travel expenses,
    • Cost of stay at the host institution,
    • Laboratory facilities and research support.

    Required Documents:

    • CV (maximum 2 pages, including 6 publications)
    • Scanned copy of passport,
    • Invitation letter from ICGEB professor
    • Copy of MSc certificate
    • English language proficiency evidence
    • Supporting statement from Head/Director (home institution)
    • Two recommendation letters from senior scientists (they must be familiar with the applicant’s work)
