Rani-ki-Vav is an outstanding example of a distinctive form of underground water architecture of the Indian subcontinent, the stepwell. Initially built as a memorial in the 11th century, it was built as a religious and functional structure, and designed as an inverted temple that emphasizes the sanctity of water.

The project is the pioneer of a four-site national campaign that extends the scope of the first ‘Let’s Heritage’ project executed in Rani-ki-Vav in 2017. It aims to promote the preservation of heritage among young people and local communities, documenting and disseminating examples of active participation, stimulating a sense of responsibility and connecting local and international people with site administration and conservation authorities.

Participants will organize and participate in different awareness actions, from heritage walks to classes, competitions, musical evenings, bonfires, food discoveries, paintings and artistic shows with local youth, school students and community representatives. They will also prepare a documentary about the activities of the camp to promote the site and the participation of young people in the protection of heritage in different social media platforms. Scheduled visits to various heritage sites in the city, crafts and museums. The Heritage Talk program will feature experts who will provide information on the Indian heritage.
