The ISRA Global Scholarship Award is part of the Fund for Shari’ah Scholars in Islamic Finance, which was established to improve knowledge and research, strengthen talents and encourage intellectual discourse in the field of Shari’ah in Islamic Finance. The Fund represents the commitment of the Negara Malaysia Bank (BNM) to strengthen the development of the Islamic financial industry. The application is open to all nationalities pursuing postgraduate studies (Doctorate and Master) in the field of Shari’ah or Islamic finance at recognized institutions of higher education in Malaysia.
The scholarship covers the academic tuition, the subsidy for books, the subsidy for equipment, the subsidy for conferences, the thesis / the subsidy for the completion of the study. While a holder of a non-Shari’ah title would not be eligible to be considered for the scholarship, those with a degree related to Islamic studies and with two years of work experience in Shari’ah affairs in an institution Islamic financial services could be considered. This scholarship is exclusively for students who specifically hold a degree in Shari’ah or its equivalent, such as a degree in Shari’ah, Muamalat, Fiqh Muamalat, Shari’ah Law, Islamic Jurisprudent, etc. Fiqh, Shari’ah law, finance / Islamic banking or its equivalent.
The International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance, better known by its acronym in English, ISRA, was established to promote applied research in the area of Islamic Sharia and finance. It also acts as a repository of knowledge for the views of Shari’ah (fatwas) and undertakes studies on contemporary issues in the Islamic financial industry. In addition, ISRA contributes to strengthening the development of human capital in the Shari’ah experience relevant to Islamic finance and provides a platform for greater commitment among professionals, academics, regulators and academics through research and dialogue, both in the national as international level. Through pioneering research and rigorous intellectual dialogue, ISRA aims to promote innovation and dynamism and thus expand the limits of Islamic finance. It is expected that with further investigation and dialogue, mutual respect and recognition will emerge within the global community of the Islamic financial industry.
