Apply for Terra Summer Residency 2019 in Giverny, France (Fully-funded)

The Terra Foundation for American Art invitations functions for the 2019 Terra Summer Residency in Giverny, France. Founded in 2001, the Terra Summer Residency brings collectively doctoral students of American Art and rising artists worldwide for a nine-week residential program in the historic village of Giverny, France.

 

The program encourages unbiased work whereas offering seminars and mentoring by senior students and artists to foster reflection and debate. The Terra Summer Residency supplies a chance for contributors to widen their tutorial and artistic horizons, discover worldwide cultural views, and forge lifelong exchanges networks.

In addition to a stipend, fellows obtain on-site lodging, use of working services, and lunches for the period of the residency.

The 2019 Terra Summer Residency will run from June three to August 2.

    Eligibility

    • Candidates worldwide can apply. Applicants have to be both:
      • A visible artist with a grasp’s diploma or its equal on the time of application. Preference is given to candidates who’ve accomplished their diploma throughout the previous 5 years.
      • A doctoral candidate researching American artwork and visible tradition or its position in a context of worldwide inventive change previous to 1980. Candidates in any respect levels of doctoral analysis and writing are welcome to apply.
    • Applicants have to be really useful by their dissertation advisor or professor or earlier art-school supervisor. Each professor could advocate most of two candidates annually.
    • Applicants for the Terra Summer Residency shall be evaluated on mental and artistic excellence, scholarly and inventive accomplishments, and skill to contribute in a collegial and interdisciplinary group.
    • As this system’s working language of this system is English, all candidates are anticipated to be fluent; information of French is an asset however not required.

    Terra Summer Residency fellows obtain:

    • A $5,000 stipend (artists obtain an extra $300 for the acquisition of supplies);
    • A journey contribution (as much as $500 for people touring from Europe, as much as $1,200 for people touring from the US and Canada, and as much as $1,500 for people touring from different locations);
    • Lodging in the Terra Foundation residences and each day lunches. Due to the character and format of this system, the residency doesn’t accommodate members of the family (together with companions and kids) or different friends. The majority of the bedrooms are single occupancy.
