The Puchi Award honors any genre’s most innovative, groundbreaking, and dynamic book proposals, focusing solely on their audacity and connections to contemporary art languages.
La Casa Encendida and Fulgencio Pimentel organized Puchi awards for books of any genre. The award contest is open to all types of books, regardless of genre or format: fiction, nonfiction, novels, poetry, comics, and children’s books. Essays, geography books, cookbooks, and a mix of the three or any other type of book will be preferred for the award. They are seeking a one-of-a-kind novel or possibly an entirely new genre.
A book can contain anything and everything, which is what this contest is looking for fiction and nonfiction, essays, poetry, illustration, informative literature, comics, geography books, cuisine, or any combination of the above. Novels that can be adequately classified as experimental will be accepted, whereas conventional novels will not be considered.

Application requirements:
Each application must include the following items:
- A filled-out entry form.
- CV (one for each author).
- A brief description of the job and a motivational statement (max. 2,000 characters with spaces).
- If applicable, a list of production needs (max. 1,000 characters with spaces).
- A provisional translation of at least two pages of the work into English.
- The works may be written in any language.
- Participants must provide a provisional English translation of at least two pages.
- In addition, a national ID, a foreign resident ID, or a passport are required.
- Completed work or a translation into the original language (PDF or Word document).
- All entry forms, curriculum vitae, summaries, motivation statements, and production requirements must be provided in English.
Submission Format:
Participants can upload materials in the following formats to the website. Images must be in the following formats:
- JPG files up to ten megabytes
- According to the original image’s dimensions, images must be 900 x 540 (w x h), with one side equal to and the other side equal to or less than the prescribed measures for width and height.
- There is a maximum of 15 photos that can be submitted.
