Applications are now open for the IUCN Leaders Forum for young leaders from all around the globe. The IUCN Leaders Forum provides young leaders with a platform to come together, share knowledge, and collaborate on finding solutions to critical environmental issues. This program is an opportunity for young leaders and innovators who are designing or implementing innovative nature-conservative or biodiversity action projects in their communities and will get to present their solutions and turn them into more concrete actions for the implementation of the Kumming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) goals and target it at the local, national and regional levels.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature has been at the forefront of global conservation efforts for decades, bringing together governments, NGOs, scientists, and experts to address the pressing environmental challenges of our time. This year’s program is the second edition of the annual IUCN Leaders Forum 2023, which will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, to facilitate a dynamic exchange of ideas, strategies, and commitments to safeguard our planet and build a sustainable future. The theme of this year’s program is “Global Goals for Nature: Tracking Progress, financing success”, aiming to enable individuals across different sectors to understand various stakeholders’ responsibilities and contributions to the GBF and secure the necessary funding to achieve global goals in environmental conservation.
This fully funded One Young Leaders Program 2023 will serve as an effective platform for global leaders to unite and prioritize environmental conservation and sustainability. Through meaningful dialogue, commitments, and collaborative efforts, participants laid the groundwork for transformative action, recognizing the urgent need to address biodiversity loss, climate change, and sustainable development. It is an excellent opportunity to be part of this vital conservation and contribute to shaping a sustainable future. Moreover, the young leaders will get to pitch their ideas to influential global leaders from the private sector, government and civil society and will receive valuable feedback.
The OYW young leader Program 2023 will help young leaders to make life-long networking networks with individuals from around the globe and work with like-minded people. The young leader’s program will be held from 10 to 14 October 2023, selected participants will receive fully funded scholarships covering all expenses, including airfare tickets, accommodation in a hotel with meals, and experience life in Switzerland by immersing themselves in the scenery of the beautiful country. As the world faces unprecedented challenges, the IUCN Leaders Forum demonstrates the power of collective leadership. It emphasizes that working together can shape a brighter and more sustainable future for future generations.
