The International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) at Leiden University is offering this European fellowship. It is a post-doctoral institute with a worldwide focus that actively fosters critical, humanistic, and cooperative work on, with, in, and beyond Asia. Research, teaching and pedagogy, civic participation, network building, and communication and dissemination are the five interconnected essential principles that serve as the foundation for our platforms and initiatives. The IIAS Asia in the World Fellowship 2027 in Netherlands, seeks to encourage a more circulatory and multi-centered process of knowledge creation and exchange in order to equip a new generation of academics to tackle today’s global issues in a multipolar world. Individuals from a wide range of fields are eligible to apply for the IIAS Asia World Fellowship 2027. 

The IIAS Asia in the World Fellowship 2027 is a fully funded fellowship for researchers from around the world. The fellowship has been redesigned into a nine-month residential programme consisting of two phases. During Phase 1, fellows will spend three months at one of the co-host institutions in Asia, Africa, Latin America, or Europe. During Phase 2, they will complete a six-month residency at IIAS, Leiden University, in the Netherlands. The programme now selects two cohorts each year. Cohort 1 will run from September 2027 to the end of May 2028, while Cohort 2 will run from March 2028 to the end of November 2028.
