Getty Scholar Grants 2022

The Getty Scholar Grants are grants awarded to the scholars who’ve acquired a definite position in their respective fields. The selected participants will be allowed to use the Getty Research Institute or Getty Villa to chase their project work free of any other work obligations; they can make use of the Getty collections, join colleagues in a weekly meeting dedicated to an annual research theme or the African American Art History Initiative. They can also take part in the intellectual life of Getty.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    • Researchers of any country from fields like arts, humanities and social sciences can apply for the Getty scholar grants.
    • Candidates who graduated after September 01 2017, are recommended to apply for a Postdoctoral Fellowship.
    • Applicants who have any Getty staff or member as their immediate family member cannot apply for the award. Also, those who got the prize in the last three years may be removed from consideration.

    Benefits :

    The Getty scholars grants will provide the following benefits:

    • Three months residency grant of approx. $21,500 for September to December, January to April or April to June.
    • Six Months Residency: September to April or January to June; $43,000
    • Nine Months Residency: September to June; $65,000.
    • AAAHI Fellowship is limited to nine-month residency terms and is granted $65,000.
    • While the residential grants also include an office at the Getty Research Institute or the Getty Villa.
    • An apartment in the Getty scholar housing complex,
    • Last but not least, airfare to and from Los Angles and an available health care option.

    The above details apply as of June 2021, and they can change. Health and safety guidelines may be imposed.
