The Ghent University is in search of to fill four full-time, 40-months, fully-funded PhD fellowships as half of the ERC-funded analysis challenge “Righting Victim Participation in Transitional Justice”.

The analysis challenge is multi-disciplinary and multi-method research of the consequences of sufferer participation in transitional justice processes. It researches the long-term (and typically unexpected) results of this participation on victims and sufferer communities by analysing how their perceptions of justice and of what their rights change in response to their involvement in transitional justice processes.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    Eligible Countries: Scholarship is accessible for International scholars.

    Entrance Requirements: To be eligible, candidates should

    • maintain a grasp’s diploma in regulation, social and political sciences, anthropology or associated self-discipline;
    • have obtained their diploma at the time of application or exhibit convincingly that they’ll have that diploma in hand by July 1, 2019;
    • be fluent in English as their working language and as their major publication language;
    • spend more extended durations of time overseas for fieldwork and take part in worldwide conferences.

    Furthermore, candidates who meet the next circumstances will likely be ranked researches throughout the evaluation process

    • good information on the sector of transitional justice, victim-oriented approaches or associated fields related to the challenge;
    • good information of (at least one of) the opposite language(s) Ph.D. the popular case research;
    • expertise with fieldwork, ideally in post-conflict settings, or particularly in one of the 4 case research;
    • expertise with both ethnographic strategies (corresponding to participant-observation, interpretive analysis design); large evaluation or authorized evaluation – and ideally a mixture of these;
    • pre-existing networks related to the analysis and fieldwork.

    In addition to those particular challenge components, we anticipate candidates to

    • have the flexibility to work independently and in a workforce;
    • have glorious educational writing/presentation expertise;
    • contribute to the final well-functioning of the workforce;
    • have some social media expertise or curiosity therein;
    • work in a meticulous approach and be capable of handle deadlines.

    • an in-depth CV (together with publication listing if obtainable)
    • a transcript of your diploma(s)
    • If you’ve got an overseas diploma in a language aside from our nationwide languages (Dutch, French or German) or English, please add a translation in one of the talked about languages.
    • a ‘Certificate of equivalence’ is required for diplomas awarded.
    • Two letters of suggestion, and a writing pattern on an associated subject (10.000 phrases most, in English, ideally a tutorial or analysis paper).
