In today’s world, online disinformation is one of the biggest threats to democracy. It creates trust issues and deepens divisions. The Council of Europe is inviting all the creative minds to design bold and scalable solutions that can improve transparency in content moderation algorithms, expose fake accounts and disinformation campaigns, boost access to reliable information, build public resilience through education & critical thinking, and from AI tools to educational platforms or policy innovations. These solutions for the Council of Europe Hackathon 2025 should be impactful, feasible, and grounded in human rights.
This Council of Europe Hackathon 2025 will provide creative solutions that will enhance transparency in content moderation algorithms and will increase access to accurate information. Ten teams will be selected to participate in the Council of Europe Hackathon 2025. Their participation will be fully funded. All the expenses related to their participation, including travel, accommodation, and meals, will be covered by the Organizers. The event will take place in the headquarters of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France. These 10 teams will pitch their ideas in the final event, and the winning team of this paid contest will win a prize of €3000. The hackathon for democracy program also includes three online warm-up sessions, followed by a final in-person, fully funded event in Europe.
