Commonwealth Split-site PhD Scholarship 2020 Fully Funded

The Commonwealth Foundation is offering a fully funded split-site scholarship for PhD candidates from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries. This is an opportunity for future doctoral candidates to spend up to 12 months at a university in the United Kingdom as part of their doctoral studies in their home country.

With the Commonwealth Split-site Scholarship grant, the foundation allows talented and motivated people to gain the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable development. In addition, the scholarship expands access to the UK team and experience for candidates for high-quality doctorates from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries, and contributes to the higher education and research of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth through of collaboration and associations.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    The Commonwealth Foundation awards the Split-Site scholarship to PhD students whose profile aligns with the scholarship requirement. In addition, candidates must:

    • Be a citizen or have refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country or a British protected person
    • In addition, fellows must be permanent residents in an eligible Commonwealth country
    • Be available to begin your academic studies in the United Kingdom at the beginning of the United Kingdom academic year in September / October 2020
    • In addition, candidates must enroll in a doctoral program in an eligible Commonwealth country.
    • Make sure there is an institutional or departmental link between your home university and your proposed UK university.
    • By September 2020, have a first degree of at least standard second-class honors (2: 1), or a second-class degree (2: 2), as well as a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a master’s degree ).
    • In addition, candidates should not be allowed to study in the UK without this scholarship.
    • In addition, students must provide all supporting documentation in the required format.

    Benefits :

    Each student who receives the fully funded Commonwealth 2020 split site doctoral fellowship will receive:

    • Tuition Fee Approved
    • Air tickets approved from the country of origin to the United Kingdom at the beginning of the studies and a return ticket at the end of the studies.
    • In addition, the stipend (life allowance) payable monthly at a rate of £ 1,110 per month. While for students in the London Metropolitan Area they will receive a stipend at a rate of £ 1,362.
    • Warm clothing allowance, when applicable.
    • Thesis scholarship for the cost of preparing a thesis, when applicable.
    • In addition, study travel grant for the cost of study-related trips within the United Kingdom or abroad.
    • If you are a widower, divorced or a single parent, the child allowance of £ 476 per month for the first child, and £ 117 per month for the second and third child under 16, if accompanied by your children

    How to apply for the Commonwealth Split-site PhD Scholarship?

    • An applicant may request to study at a university in the United Kingdom that has a partial financing agreement with the CSC. Partial financing agreements are at the discretion of individual universities.
    • To apply, candidates must submit the application directly to the CSC using the CSC online application system. Along with the application, a student must submit
    • Proof of citizenship or refugee status: uploaded to the online application system
    • Full transcripts detailing all of your higher education qualifications, including updated transcripts for any qualification.
    • References from at least two people: sent directly by the referees to the online application system (the referees will receive a request via email)
