Applications are now open for the Exchange Program of the Canon-University Foundation of Kyoto Japan-Africa 2019. Based on the Memorandum of Understanding concluded between the Canon Foundation in Europe (CFE). In addition, the University of Kyoto (KU), the Japan-Africa Exchange Program of the Canon Foundation-University of Kyoto began in 2018. The program offers scholarships to highly qualified researchers in research fields related to African studies.

In addition, the program is intended to support KU fellows who want to research in Africa, and for academics from the associated institutes of the University of Kyoto in Africa who want to research in Kyoto

    Application Process:

    To apply, send the following documents to the Africa Unit of the University of Kyoto at

    • Your research plan includes a clear title at the top of the page, as well as the start / end dates of the proposed research. The research plan must include a general cost estimate, which includes life, travel, research costs, insurance, etc. (maximum 2 pages)
    • Two letters of reference (maximum 1 page each) of 2 people. One letter must be from someone who is in a position to comment on their academic qualifications and professional work, while the other must be a confirmation letter from their potential host that can provide research or work facilities during the proposed period.
    • Your CV
    • A copy of your doctoral certificate or your highest academic degree
    • Similarly, a passport-sized photograph of you
    • A list of your academic publications or professional achievements in chronological order. In addition, it contains information on all authors, place and year of publication and page references.
