The objective of the UNESCO-Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Award for outstanding practice and performance to improve teacher effectiveness is to support, encourage and benefit those who work to improve the performance and effectiveness of teachers for quality education for all. It will also serve to facilitate the global exchange and dissemination of outstanding practices related to teachers. The objective of the Prize is consistent with UNESCO’s policies and is related to the Organization’s Program in the field of teacher education and development.
The Prize will be entitled “UNESCO-Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Award for outstanding practice and performance to improve teacher effectiveness”.
The Prize will be funded by the Donor, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum of the United Arab Emirates. As determined by the Director-General and in consultation with the Donor, the Prize will consist of US $ 300,000 that will be divided equally between the three winners and will be paid directly by the Donor and a certificate for each of the three winners of the Prize.
All funds received and accrued interest will be maintained in a special account that accrues interest for the Prize.
The Donor, Your Highness, will cover all costs of support and operation / administration of the Prize, including all costs related to the awards ceremony and public information activities and general expenses, estimated at a minimum of US $ 200,000 by biennial edition. To this end, the Director General will determine a mandatory mandatory cost that will be applied and charged to the funds in the special account, which will be established in accordance with the financial regulations for the Prize.
