This UN fellowship is a high-impact initiative devoted to Sustainable Ocean Governance and the Blue Economy. The objective of the United Nations-Portugal Ocean Fellowship Programme is to give high-level ocean policy officials from UN Member States that are classified as developing economies under UN-DESA’s methodology, which is published yearly in the statistical annex of the WESP, access to a capacity-sharing program that is specifically designed to meet their needs. Moreover, the UN Portugal Ocean Fellowship 2025 aims to increase the ability of developing nations to support the development of creative solutions to safeguard and maintain our marine ecosystems while fostering equity and economic prosperity.
The UN-Portugal Ocean Fellowship 2025 in Europe is a short-term fellowship program. The duration of the UN Ocean Fellowship 2025 in Portugal is five days; it will take place from October 20–24, 2025. It is a 5-day capacity-building program. The international fellowship will select up to 30 ocean policy officials from different countries from all over the world. The United Nations Fellowship Program is funded by the UN DESA and the Government of Portugal. It is a fully funded fellowship that will cover transportation, accommodation, and any subsistence costs related to the participation. Participants will be required to attend the fellowship for the whole duration.
