Red Cross Internship Program 2018

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is pleased to announce Red Cross Internship Program. This Internship will allow the applicants to get a broad view of the different topics and different content they will come through. This will also give them a chance to step into a professional life. These internships allow for a general understanding of the ICRC, its mandate, activities and International Humanitarian Law (IHL); and provide an opportunity for students to gain exposure to a real work environment of the ICRC.

The International Red Cross is an international humanitarian movement with approximately 17 million volunteers, members and staff worldwide which was founded to protect human life and health, to ensure respect for all human beings, and to prevent and alleviate human suffering.

During the internship, they will be engaged in a number of tasks including research, organizational and administrative support, translation and other assignments related to various activities of the ICRC delegation in Pakistan.

The interns will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 15000 during the course of the internship program which is 3 months.

Internship Duration and Dates:

Duration of the ICRC Red Cross Internship Program is 3 months starting from:

  • 1st August 2018 in Islamabad
  • 1st September 2018 in Peshawar

Eligibility Criteria:

If you fulfill the following requirements then you are eligible to apply for the internship program.

  • The student should be enrolled in an undergraduate or Post Graduate Degree in the field of law and/or Social Sciences (International Relations, Communications/Media Relations, Defense & Diplomatic Studies/ Peace & Conflict Studies and similar disciplines) in a recognized University/College, based in Pakistan.
  • Graduates who had finished their studies in one of the above-mentioned disciplines not later than a year from the date of commencement of the internship.
  • A good command of spoken and written English and Urdu.
  • Available for minimum 3 months or more.

Qualities Required:

  • Ability to think strategically, to express ideas clearly, both orally and in writing, and to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A manifest interest for humanitarian action/issues and the ICRC.
  • Capacity for thinking out-of-the-box and for generating ideas and initiatives.
  • Capacity for research and analytical writing.
  • Flexibility and ability to assist with a variety of tasks.

How to Apply:

Following documents are required to apply for the Red Cross Internship Program

  • Letter of recommendation from Dean/Head of Department/Principal of the Law University/College/Institute from their respective university, also mentioning the year of participation of the respective university in the Henry Dunant Moot Court Competition or any other ICRC organized event.
  • A personal statement by the student, maximum 400 words, on his/her motivation for an internship at the ICRC.
  •  Curriculum Vitae (CV).
