The United Nations invites the application for the Public Information Paid Internship at United Nations, USA. This internship is in the Support Branch of the Peacebuilding Commission (PCSB) of the Office of Peacebuilding Support (PBSO) in the Department of Political Affairs and Peacebuilding (DPPA). The internship is for a period of three to six months. The internship is free and full time. Interns work five days a week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member at the branch to which they are assigned.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    To qualify for a public information internship in the UN internship program, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

    • Be in a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
    • Be in the last academic year of a first university program (minimum degree level or master’s degree or equivalent); or
    • They have graduated with a university degree and must begin the internship within a year of graduation from an academic program.
    • In addition, applicants who cannot begin the internship within the year of graduation are not eligible.
    • Have computer skills in standard software applications and with a particular knowledge / experience in
    • Adobe Creative Suite (including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign). Any other graphic design software, as well as the editing software, including video editing (Final Cut Pro, etc.), is an advantage.
    • Show great interest in the work of the UN and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;

    • The fluency of English (written and spoken) is desirable. In addition, knowledge of the UN language is an advantage.

    Job/Internship Description :

    The Public Information Internship is under the supervision of the Peacebuilding Support Office (PSO). In addition, PSO would like to hire an intern to support the work of the Support Branch of the Peacebuilding Commission (PCSB). In addition, interns will be responsible for:

    • Provide support in the implementation of the PBSO communication strategy;
    • Assist in the production of visual and multimedia materials, including photos, video clips, infographics, graphics cards, information kit;
    • Maintain a diverse library of images with photos, illustrations, videos, etc., while managing and updating content for the United Nations.
    • Peace building website and social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr);
    • Monitoring and cutting of news coverage on peacebuilding issues and preparation of daily newsletters;
    • Monitor and analyze perceptions of the website and social networking sites and produce media monitoring reports on a regular basis;
    • Transforming data and research into compelling visuals
    • Assist the communication team with any other task assigned to it.
