Global UGRAD is a one-semester non-degree academic study exchange program in the United States for a broad group of emerging student leaders. This exchange scholarship is entirely funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and attempts to recruit participants from underrepresented backgrounds who have not had previous opportunities to study in the U.S. Furthermore, students will gain a deep understanding of American society, culture, and academic institutions, as well as opportunities to improve their professional abilities.

Global Undergraduate Exchange Program 2024 welcomes outstanding and brilliant students who possess leadership skills and have the potential to shine in their relevant fields. Through this student exchange program in the USA, international students will have an opportunity to enhance their knowledge, develop professional skills, and step up toward excellence.

Selected candidates of the U.S. Global Undergraduate Exchange Program for international students will be placed in different host universities for full-time, non-degree undergraduate coursework chosen from the existing curriculum. To improve their awareness of the United States, participants will be required to take one 3-credit U.S. studies course. Participants in the U.S. Global UGRAD program 2024 will share campus housing with American peers and must complete twenty hours of community service.

Virtual arrival orientation and an in-person end-of-program workshop will also be provided. The fully funded cultural exchange program will not only result in personal and leadership skills development, but it is also an opportunity to exchange cultures of different countries and experience living in a country known as the hub of opportunities.     Eligibility Criteria :

    Ready to apply for the UGRAD exchange program 2024? Before starting the UGRAD 2024 application, check the criteria, requirements, and other details. We have enlisted the eligibility criteria for international students below.

    Eligibility Criteria for the Global UGRAD 2024:

    • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
    • Students must be citizens of one of the Global UGRAD participating countries and should reside there.
    • Students must be enrolled in full-time undergraduate programs and have completed at least their first semester. They must be enrolled in a well-accredited university, public or private. After completing the UGRAD exchange program, they have at least one year remaining in their home country to be eligible for the Global UGRAD program 2024.
    • Applicants for the Global undergraduate exchange program must have completed their secondary education in the country where they live (home country).
    • Applicants should display leadership potential through academic achievement, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.
    • Furthermore, students must have a solid command of written and spoken English. (If required, English Language training for some fellows is possible).
    • Applicants without experience in the United States or outside their home countries will be prioritized.
    • International students must return to their native country immediately after completing the program.
    • Applicants must belong to the eligible countries listed above.
    • Applicants must be physically fit and cleared by a physician to participate in this Global UGRAD exchange program. 
    • Applicants must be eligible to obtain a J-1 visa (U.S. student exchange visa.
    • Applicants must be able to begin their studies in the U.S. in January 2024.

    Not eligible for the Global UGRAD Program 2024:

    • Permanent residents of the USA and citizens of the United States
    • Individuals currently studying, residing, or working in a country other than their own.
    • Local personnel at U.S. embassies in other countries who work for the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) are also ineligible for one year after their job ends.
    • Immediate family members (spouses and children) of workers of the U.S. Department of State and USAID; family members are also disqualified for one year after employment ends.
    • Employees of World Learning and their close family members.
