Global UGRAD is a one-semester non-degree academic study exchange program in the United States for a broad group of emerging student leaders. This exchange scholarship is entirely funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs that attempts to recruit participants from underrepresented backgrounds who have not had previous opportunities to study in the U.S. Furthermore, students will gain a deep understanding of American society, culture, and academic institutions, as well as opportunities to improve their professional abilities.

Global Undergraduate Exchange Program 2023 welcomes outstanding and brilliant students who possess leadership skills and have the potential to shine in their relevant fields. International students will engage in activities and meet diverse, multicultural communities from different countries around the world. Under this USA exchange program 2023, they will gain practical work experience as they will engage in various community projects and activities. Through this student exchange program, international students will have an opportunity to enhance their knowledge, develop professional skills and step up toward excellence. 

Selected candidates will be placed in different host universities for full-time, non-degree undergraduate coursework chosen from the existing curriculum. To improve their awareness of the United States, participants will be required to take one 3-credit U.S. studies course. Participants will share campus housing with American peers and must complete twenty hours of community service.

Virtual arrival orientation and an in-person end-of-program workshop will also be provided. It will not only result in personal and leadership skills development, but it is also an opportunity to exchange cultures of different countries and experience living in a country known as the hub of opportunities. It will allow students to learn about other cultures as individuals from different countries will be participating. In addition, this is a chance to explore American culture and society.

The fully-funded leadership exchange program is an excellent initiative by the United States of America to uplift global economies by empowering the youth globally through engaging them in multiple community activities. This UGRAD program aims to promote a good relationship between the USA and other countries. They promote cross-cultural leadership and academic competency among students to achieve this goal. Furthermore, this program will help students establish a social network with different communities.

    Eligibility Criteria :

    Eligibility Criteria for the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program:

    • Students must be citizens of the country in which they reside.
    • Applicants for the Global undergraduate exchange program must study in the country where they live.
    • Students must be enrolled in full-time undergraduate programs and have completed at least their first semester of study to be eligible for scholarships. After completing the UGRAD exchange program, participants must complete at least one semester or equivalent term at their home institutions.
    • Applicants should display leadership potential through academic achievement, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.
    • Furthermore, students must have a TOEFL IBT score of 48 or higher.
    • Applicants without experience in the United States or outside their home countries will prioritize.
    • International students must return to their native country immediately after completing the program.
    • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
    • Applicants must belong to the eligible countries listed above.
    • Permanent residents of the USA and citizens of the United States
    • Individuals who are currently studying, residing, or working in a country other than their own.
    • Local personnel at U.S. embassies in other countries who work for the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID); employees are also ineligible for one year after their job ends.
    • Immediate family members (spouses and children) of workers of the U.S. Department of State and USAID; family members are also disqualified for one year after employment ends.
    • Employees of World Learning and their close family members.

    Requirements for Global UGRAD 2023:

    • Complete online application
    • Copy of Passport Bio Page
    • Academic transcripts (with English translation)
    • Two letters of recommendation
    • Grade equivalence between local and USA grading system

    Applicants should receive their academic transcripts and letters of recommendation as soon as possible, as they will not be able to submit more material after the application deadline on 6 January 2022. Once selected as a finalist or alternative, the applicants can give English translations of their updated transcripts.
