Good news for those interested in training programs. CNN Academy Storytelling Program 2025 is currently accepting applications. This program is an initiative of the Cable News Network (CNN) and is open to applicants from the Global South. The training program is specifically looking for young storytellers who want to make a difference through Journalism. The CNN Academy Program aims to provide an excellent media training opportunity through its Storytelling for Impact program. The program structure includes two phases, a virtual training and an in-person training and Simulation in Abu Dhabi. So, what are you waiting for? This journalism program receives support from the Gates Foundation and aims to empower rising storytellers from the Global South. Its goal is to train them with the skills and resources needed to share powerful, impactful narratives that can inspire real change. Therefore, it is an excellent opportunity for journalists, content creators or storytellers in the early stages of their career. Similarly, the CNN Academy Storytelling Program seeks to promote journalism in regions that are frequently at the center of global health issues but receive limited media attention. Participants will learn to cover critical topics such as vaccine access in Sub-Saharan Africa, humanitarian crises and the resilience of frontline workers. The Cable News Network program prepares participants to uncover and convey stories with depth, relevance and significance.
Moreover, phase one of the program is conducted fully online through the CNN Academy Hub. In this phase, participants will take part in a series of interactive courses that aim to sharpen their storytelling skills and expand their understanding of the global challenges, especially those impacting the Global South. Hence, offering participants a chance to participate in an online program.
Phase two of the CNN program starts with in-person training in Abu Dhabi, where participants will gain practical experience in mobile journalism and storytelling. They will also receive guidance from the Academy’s expert trainers. After this, applicants will take part in the 2025 CNN Academy Simulation, a real-world exercise that will revolve around global health issues. The Academy will also cover costs of the trip, providing generous support. This real-world simulation will allow participants to put their training into action and create impactful news stories in a high-pressure setting.
